Over-exertion in lifting objects

EE reported on 11/14/2022 that EE had been injured on 11/10/2022. EE was working setting a chute, when EE shifted EE's weight on EE's legs and heard something pop in EE's right hip. EE was advised to seek medical treatment but declined. On 11/22/2022 EE sought out medical attention. EE has been referred for an MRI, diagnosed suspect labral re-injury.

Fall to the walkway or working surface

Slipped on ICE when stepping off of scaffolding and hurt back.

Struck by flying object

Miner was assisting in a belt install on a conveyor. The belt was being pulled on with a rope. The miner placed a gloved hand on the head pulley to get a look at the progress. The rope broke under tension and struck the miner in the right hand. Miner sustained a fracture to the thumb of the right hand.

Employee was changing the bearing on a shaft using a chisel and hammer to remove race. Hammer glanced off chisel hitting left index finger near the nail. Smashed and cut left index finger.

Released back to work with a ""sitting only"" restriction. Tem 8F. Pit excavator drove fuel truck to machine in pit bottom & park the truck. Exited to chock the rear wheels. EE's right foot slipped on an ice puddle EE caught EE's full weight on EE's left foot. EE experienced pain in EE's ankle. RMH/Sentara Corp health determined EE's injury to be Achilles Tendon Entesopathy.

Contact with hot objects or substances

Miner was attempting to cut the bearing out of a pulley assembly on C12 while plant was down for a complete conveyor overhaul when his right forearm came into contact with the acetylene torch he was utilizing. Miner suffered second degree burn. Foreman administered first aid. Miner was taken to urgent care facility for treatment.

Heavy Equipment Operator was operating an excavator in the sump area of the pit-complained of shortness of breath/minor chest pain. Initial FA/triage was conducted by plant manager. PT was assessed to be having a heart attack, called 911/ EMS. PT was evacuated by EMS to local hospital. PT was not having heart attack, just an asthma attack. PT was released from hospital same day.

Struck by falling object

WHILE REPLACING A DRILL STEEL ONTO ITS CAROSEL THE END SLIPPED OUT AND PINCHED THE SMALL FINGERON HIS R HAND. THE LACERATION REQUIRED 6 STITCHES AND HE RETURNED TO WORK. HOWEVER HIS FINGER BECAME INFECTED & WAS RESTRICTED FROM WORKING
