Contact with hot objects or substances

While performing overhead torch work to cut bolts, the miner was struck by hot slag. The slag traveled between the face shield and safety glasses and contacted the eyelid. The miner was evaluated by an ophthalmologist, where a small foreign body was removed and the burn was treated with prescribed ointment.

Rubbed or abraded

Coworker was replacing bolts on the D8 cutting edge when their left middle finger was cut on a sharp metal edge. The injury required five stitches.

Struck by flying object

Ee's were adjusting the closed side of the crusher opening by pulling a cable connected to a haul truck. As the haul truck pulled on the cable, the cable caught a nearby oil tank causing the cable to lift off the crusher. The flying cable then struck a platform handrail which broke the weld. The broken handrail then hit the injured coworker in the Right Knee.

After cleaning mirror on drill cab, lost right footing on step, left foot got stuck in cab step and lost grip on hand bar. EE fell and hung by the left foot. Witness heard EE and removed EE off drill.

EE was changing cutting edge on equip. While using air hammer to remove bolt and hammer to hold, hammer slipped and left hand contacted sharp head on bolt.

Climbing down ladder using one hand on rail two foot steps, was in process of stepping on to ground. When lower foot slipped off step, causing grip on railing to come loose. Fell to ground striking head on ground and landing on right elbow.

WHILE ASSISTING TO PLACE METAL PLATE, THE WIND PICKED UP CAUSING PLACE TO SWAY ON CHAINS OF CRANE. EE MOVED TOO QUIKLY AND LOST FOOTING ON SNOW AND OTHER PLATES LAYING ON GROUND, FELL ON LEFT ARM, FRACTURING ARM.
